First Re-uphostering Project

Tada!!! Here is my new chair! I decided to go to the D.I. (the local thrift store here) and purchased the chair to the left for $20. I spend about $40 for the fabric I needed (roughly 7 yards) and an additional $4 for the buttons on the back cushion. Here's how it turned out! I bought my fabric from www.fabric.com because they have such good sales and free shipping with any $35 purchase or more at any time. Total time spent on it= roughly 10 hours total :)

Free lanyard pattern with cell phone holder

I don't know about you, but I have to wear my keys everywhere I go at work and pack my cell phone. I decided to sit down and make me a new lanyard that would hold my cell phone too! Here's what I came up with! Super simple to make
You will need:
* 38 inches of your favorite 1.5" width ribbon
* 5.5 inches of thick elastic (2 inches thick)
* Swivel Fastner
* Matching thread
* Scissors
(Everything I found at Hobby Lobby... I'm sure any craft store would carry everything)

First fold the ribbon in half and sew as close to the edge as you can. (I used my zipper foot so I could get close.) Stitch down both sides

Second, meet both raw edges of the ribbon together and loop through the swivel. Fold over and sew. (sorry the picture for this step wouldn't upload!)

Third, cut the elastic in half so you have (2) 2.75" pieces. Place them on the inside of the lanyard and sew close to the edge. (I have done one side below)

Fourth, Sew the other side of the elasic on. I apologize once again for the horrible photos. I took them with my cell phone and uploading them just wasn't working right. Please message me if you have questions!

February Projects

St. Patricks Day table runner!!!---Here are a few of my latest projects! I ended up going to Hobby Lobby and bought some St Patty's day fabric and made this table runner. I cut strips 2.5" wide and 11" long and pieced them together. The border is also 2.5" wide.

Baby Shoes-- I ended up browsing Pinterest and found a really cute shoe pattern so here's my attempt at making them. Wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be :)

Peg People Ornaments--- These are the ornaments I made around Christmas time to go on my tree for my girls. I wanted an ornament I could make more of for an expanding family, but was safe enough if kids got ahold of it.

Long time no see!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've been on here. I've tried so hard to find time, but of course.... I've slacked off again. I'm going to have to make it my personal goal to get on here every other day :)

Here's a few cross stitch pillows I've been working on for each of the holidays. I'm trying to figure out little ways to spruce up my house with out having an over load of decorations I have to put up and take down every month.

Central Park by Moda

Here is one of Moda's newest lines called Central Park by Kate Spain. I'm extremely excited to get started on a new bed spread for my spare bed room with this layer cake. Too bad fabric doesn't grow on trees, the price of fabric just seems to be rising with everything else in this economy now :)

Origins by Moda

I couldn't be happier with the way my quilt turned out!! I decided to create the design as I went and had a ton of fun putting it together. I ended up using the Origins line from Moda. It ended up being my first quilt I did with the binding being cut in strips and not on the bias, it turned out just as well. I'm almost done with the binding on my fall quilt. I will post pictures as soon as I get it finished!

New Items on Etsy

Here are a few of the latest items that I will be adding to my Etsy account!

Fun Projects

Well after a long lost friend hit me up about my blog, I finally decided to get on update it with everything I've been doing the past few months, so here we go!

Happy birthday to my little girl! My little angel turned one February 7th so I decided to be daring and make her cupcakes with flowers. They turned out pretty well I think, thanks to the boxed fondant frosting that Walmart carries.
My sister is expecting a little girl in May so I made her a receiving blanket. It was my first time ever sewing with Minky fabric and flannel together. It ended up so soft, I'm thinking about making a nice Minky blanket big enough for me :)

Easter is almost here! (I can't believe it). This year is just flying buy. I came across some pastel colored fat quarters and decided to cut them in to strips and sew them together. I also quilted the entire thing on my machine myself! With a quilting foot and a darning plate it ended up being a good learning experience for me. Can't wait to put it on the table I'm been trying to improve my sewing techniques with animals, so here are a few of the animals I've made. My little girl absolutely loves them! Let me know if you're interested and I can tell you where I got the patterns

I'm couldn't be more excited that the holidays are over. Now I can spend some time quilting! I currently have two quilts being quilted as we speak and should have them up and posted early this next week. In the mean time I purchased two of Moda's newest charm packs "Max & Whiskers" and "Dilly Dally". Can't wait to crack them open and get started!

Pasta Angel

Who knew pasta just wasn't for spaghetti! Here's a noodle angel ornament I made for my neighbors this year. I used noodles for the arms, body, belt and wings. I used a 3/4" wooden ball for the head and glued rice on for the hair. So far I've received a ton of compliments from the neighbors. Easy and simple!

Homemade Christmas Gifts

Christmas is just around the corner! This year I decided to make homemade gifts. Finding time to make anything around the holidays is always hard for me, but these cute hot pot holders didn't take too long at all. A few cans of soup in a bag, a pack of crackers and a wooden spoon and my gift was ready to go. I will post pattern and instructions later.
